CALI
Cali also known as the salsa capital of the world is located in the Valle de Cauca (The Cauca Valley) and is bordered by the Cauca River and the mountain range of the Western Andean Cordilleras, separating Cali and the Pacific Coast. North of Cali is the industrial centre of Yumbo and Palmira, the city where Cali’s airport (CLO – Alfonso Bonilla Aragón) is located. To the south, there is the city of Jamundi, which is now part of the metropolitan area.
Hacienda El Paraiso
About an hour from Cali (about 36 km) is located one of the favorite destinations of foreign tourists visiting the Valle del Cauca – the Hacienda El Paraiso, converted in a museum, is the icon of this region of Colombia, known worldwide as the scenario of the romance novel of Latin American Summit: Maria, Jorge Isaacs. The Hacienda El Paraiso is an excellent example of the traditional architecture and spacious houses with high ceilings of the great estates of the region.
TRAVEL TIMES
The Sugar Cane Aguapark is one of the recreational parks in Cali, and was founded in 1983. It offers its visitants several pools including a swimming pool with artificial waves.
The Flower Park is one of the most traditional ones of the city of Cali. It is a recreational park with a running track and various exercise stations – located in the neighborhood of Flora.
The Panamerican Park is part of the San Fernando Sports Unit including various Olympic swimming pools and the Coliseo Evangelista Mora. It is also known as Parque de las Banderas.Three Cross Hill
The Hill of the 3 Crosses, is the holy hill of the city of Santiago de Cali and is located in the village of Montebello in the rural area of the municipality. At its top visitors find three monumental crosses – Cali’s most famous tourist place and viewpoint. The monument was built based on the myth that the devil appeared in the mountain and cursed the inhabitants of Cali.
Lago Calima
It is located in the municipality of Darién in the Valle del Cauca Department. The lake is part of a hydroelectric project for generating power for the department, constructed 1961.The Lake has become a famous place for water sports and leisure activities. Vacation centers, restaurants and camping zones were built near the lake, and is currently a popular place, frequented by tourists.
Cali Zoo
