What is a IPL?

Beautiful Face after IPL

IPL – Intense Pulsed Light is a cosmetic treatment for skin conditions like light acne scars, broken capillaries, hyper pigmentation or redness. A non-ablative and carefully calibrated laser is used to penetrate deep below the skin’s surface and allows to treat fine wrinkles and sun spots, small facial veins, rosacea and redness, large pores, freckles and other skin conditions. The light energy delivered by the IPL gently heats the upper layers of the skin. The heat absorbed by the treated areas stimulate skin cells to generate new collagen, helping your skin to a natural beauty with a vibrant and younger looking skin. Furthermore, the energy produced by the IPL remove redness and pigmented lesions.

Any area of the body can be treated. The most common areas are those areas exposed to the harmful effects of sun. The most popular treatments are on the face, neck, back, hands, chest and shoulders.

Each IPL treatment is conveniently quick and takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Many patients seamlessly integrate their IPL into their lives by getting treatments during their lunch hour.

An average of 2-6 treatments at an interval of 2-4 weeks, will produce the desired results. You may need additional treatments depending on the severity of their condition. For long-term benefit, any treatment should always be combined with an effective sunscreen. Consult your doctor to decide which sunscreen is right for you.

Safety & Risks

IPL treatment is effective, safe and takes about 15-20 minutes.

A brief period of facial redness is the most common side effect of IPL, although this can easily be covered up with liquid foundation, powder or a concealer until the redness subsides, usually within an hour or so. For some pigmented lesions the treated areas will darken, followed by fading and flaking slightly. Your treated skin will feel smoother, fine wrinkles and pores are less visible.
